Turner Creek Elementary School Reviews

Turner Creek is an amazing school - my thanks to Mrs. Hargrove and her dedicated team of teachers and support faculty! My daughter has attended two private schools in the past and the support she receives at Turner Creek far surpasses the private schools. I am very involved in both my children's classes - field trips, reader's workshop, reading to the class and visiting for lunch. We're thrilled to be part of the Tree Frog Community!

Turner Creek is an awesome school! Jan Hargrove is incredible with the students and staff and she strives to make the school environment one in which everyone is successful! The staff is very dedicated and hardworking. Many teachers remain at school into the evening hours and will request the building be open on Saturdays to prepare for the coming week(s). The parents and students seem very happy with the programs available and the support they get from staff and administration. Turner Creek has a wonderful population of parents who are welcome and encouraged to be a part of his/her child's classroom (not observing and critiquing, but helping and supporting students and teachers)! I could not be more pleased with the experience I've had at Turner Creek!

Turner Creek is a FABULOUS school! The principle is great, with being nominated for Principle of the Year several years in a row now, as proof! The staff is overall very good, with many dedicated teachers. To rate the entire school poorly due to one poor experience with a single teacher is not fair to all of the teachers who do go above and beyond. Great communication, parental involvement, an active PTA, make this a School of Excellence!

Turner Creek has not lived up to the hype!! The school was supposed to be the absolute best thanks to the principal and team of teacher's she's hired. Our child's teacher should have been fired years ago for sheer laziness! She doesn't want to grade papers so she doesn't give homework, and 98% of the classwork that does comes home is uncorrected. We discovered she can't even answer the math problems she gives her students!! This school year has been a waste of time. Our child has learned so little!

This is the best school!! I have never experienced a school where the priniciple knows each student by name. Every teacher is here to help the students learn to their fullest potential. The teachers love to be there because it is such a positive enviroment. This school makes learning fun. The kids want to be here and it shows from their progress each year. Its an honor to be able to attend such a wonderful school!

We have had some problems with Turner Creek. The school is fairly new and the principal was transferred to the school from another. We largely wanted our kids to attend this school because of the principal. However, what we later learned is that the school really does not want too much parental involvement. We were simply not allowed, as parents, to sit in on classes for our 2nd grader even though he was experiencing a great deal of anxiety as a result of class. The principal said there was an 'open door policy,' but when it came down to us exercising that policy, it suddenly changed. Academically, our kids have suffered basically because of the soft curriculum of North Carolina.
