I'm just the average dissatisfied individual going through my quarter life crisis. I used to fly a lot (single engine); I enjoy working a flyrod - if the boat floats and/or the water ain't too deep. I have seen Hell (Southeast Asia) but I survived. Never looked back... never voted since I got back, either (such a farce!). I guess you could say I have scar tissue; most say "lots of baggage" but there is no baggage in Hell... just wounds & scars.

Currently, I live a high quality, low stress, life in a small southern town. I am opinionated with purpose. I love my pets. I read a ton. I garden. I do not own a tv. I cook and can. I go see live music. I knit and quilt but have a hard time finishing projects. I will eventually. I like thrift stores and farmers markets. I guess you could say I am your average-run of the mill- modern woman, who strives to live self sufficiently and treads lightly.

I am true to my word and very upfront, though sometimes it takes me a bit to process and form an opinion.

Writing a 500 word profile is harder than it seems. I'm from central NC but lived in California for most of my adult life. I moved back to NC last year and it feels good to be back most of the time though I do miss some aspects of the West Coast. I can say I appreciate being near my family much more now. My mom is one of my favorite people.

Ideally I want to get married and have kids, preferably in that order. I don't have a timetable for that but definitely some day and ideally before I get too old to have children of my own. For now I'd be ok with anything from an occasional dinner companion leading up to a forever kind of partner. I'm pretty open minded about meeting people at this point.

I love to travel but haven't done too much of it lately. I've been all over the US, Canada a few times, once to Europe (Germany, Switzerland and France), Guatemala and Japan. One day I'd love to get to every continent - three down, four to go! I'm very good at planning trips though I also love the spontaneous aspect of traveling without too much planned. International trips are great but I'm also happy with an occasional weekend to the mountains or coast. My ideal road trip would be to get a VW camper van and tour across Canada over the course of a summer, from the Maritimes to the Yukon and maybe Alaska.

Food and cooking are vital to me. I have a garden though I am no gardening expert by any means, but I definitely love the idea of growing my own food. I'm a long-time vegetarian and that is very important to me for health, environmental reasons, and concern over the animals. I'm ok beng around people who are eating meat, just don't take me to a steak house please! I consider myself a foodie though not a food snob; I definitely appreciate good food and wine. Tonight I made pasta with peppers, basil, tomatoes and oregano from my garden which definitely fell into the category of good food made even better since it came from my garden.

Reading is another one of my big hobbies. I aim to finish a book a week though that can be tough with so many other things going on in my life. I read a variety of books, from modern fiction to classics to all kinds of nonfiction. I'm also something of a news junkie but mostly that is to stay informed about what's going on in the world.

I don't own a TV and I'm ok with that. I'd much rather be reading or sitting on the deck with my dogs than watching TV. I'm not a big movie fan either, but that doesn't mean I hate them. I do watch them at home occasionally via Netflix. I like foreign films in particular.

I argue with "self" all the time. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.

I love being outdoors...I'm usually outside whenever the weather's nice. I exercise regularly, so I'm fairly fit. I love live music...there used to be a club in Cary that had a live band every Friday night (until it was sold, and the venue changed). Every night I like to sit on my balcony, enjoy a cold beer, and watch the sun go down. I like trying different restaurants..different cuisines. I also like to cook (when I have someone to cook for). I love physical contact...hugging, kissing, holding hands, cuddling...etc. I'm 47, 5'8", 160lbs, non-smoker.

These things alaeem like a sales pitch do they not? I guess I should try to paint myself as a good, law abiding citizen, but I won't. The works of William Blake tell me that I need to show both sides of the spectrum to grasp true meaning in all things, so here it goes. I am 26 years old. I have lived in three different states. I was born in Indiana and lived most of my time there in a small town called Mitchel. I grew up in Spring Mill State Park, playing in the creeks and caves. Basically I was a little hellion and my mother took me there to wear my ass out. We moved to Tennessee when I was 7 and thats were I spent most of my life. I currently live in North Carolina while I attend classes at a local community college. This is my 2nd go around with college, I attended, well I lived at the University of Tennessee for a year before I realized that college was not for me. At least at that stage in my life. I was not mature enough to handle the responibility at that point. I started work at Hooters of Knoxville, do not laugh I learned more about cooking there then I have from any other place I've worked, which ranges from fried foods to Italian. I got into a bit of trouble and decided that going back to school would be the best thing for me and so far it has been. It made me realize that all of the depressing thoughts and emotions I had been dealing with was a result not being challenged enough at least mentally. I enjoy reading and writing, and try to do both on a daily basis, most of my writing comes in the form of poetry, usually observational, and oocasionally the form the Romantics, which is odd because for the most part I do not like things written before the modern era. I devour aing I can when I find an author I like, I smoke Marijuana on occasion and drink. I have been arrested twice in my life, you would think after the first one I would know better but I am a taurus making me hard headed. Anything else a person would want to know should be asked of me, and not read on an online self summery, conversation and discussion is the way to go with that.

A lot of me go way back to the days when I was just a small child. By the time I was seven years old I was in fighting martial arts and that was a huge part of my childhood. Of course over the years Iâ??ve continued my skills into other styles, and provided myself with a huge background. I'm currently a short order cook at my auntâ??s restaurant and I enjoy cooking but I don't plan to do that for the rest of my life. I guess you could say that I'm a logical thinker but I do think circle like if you understand my awful metaphor. The combined seven years of fighting martial arts has really given me a different lookout on life and has allowed me to understand things. I speak Chinese, Ni hao ma? Wo hen hao! Ne ni?, ni jiao shi me ming zi?, don't bother translating pinyin wont translate in your normal translater. I also speak a little bit of Japanese but really don't like to display that ability since it's no where near my level of Chinese. I'm not huge into the gay life but of course I will take a Friday off and shake my ass off at the local club, which really isn't that local.

I'm a geek, I love playing Video games, reading, movies,Science Fiction and Fantasy, Science, History, photography, I love traveling, going to the Zoo, Aquarium, Museums, festivals, concerts.

I consider myself to be intelligent, shy, funny, open minded, a procrastinator, a thinker, brutally honest, over analytical, and realistic.

I am not looking for Ms. perfect, it's OK to agree to disagree, it's OK to not see eye to eye on everything, I just want a woman who will accept me for who I am, take the good with the bad and not try to make me change habits that have taken 40 years to perfect ;)

I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and I try to be a part of her life as much as I can. I love my Daughter and It baffles me that there are guys out there that don't want anything to do with their kids. If you have children I hope you love them as much as I love my daughter and also understand they have to come first sometimes. I'm not sure If I want any more kids but I've learned to never say never about anything.

Inquisitive, fun, listener who likes to be happy most of the time. Serious when needed, but for the most part I live day by day with the thought of 'today' as the one that is important. I am not interested in yesterdays bad news but I have been shaped by experiences. I hope to find someone who has similar interests. There are too many things I like to do, but I do everything in moderation. I don't live for any one idea. I read sometimes. From Shirlock Holmes to Twilight, and sometimes even some Jane Austen works. . -so sue me. I read the Bible almost every day so I can have a grasp on life. I like to try anything at least once. Never know that you'll like it or not, unless it's just weird or disgusting! hehe. I used to go salsa dancing a lot but now I am in school finishing my degree . . . :( It's all right, not too much longer. I hope that you are fun and like to be in in pleasant company, like movies and plays, fairs and museums, or relaxing in each others company just enjoying life and one another!

As for me...don't mind what other people think of me and won't look to someone else to make me happy. My feelings are controlled by what I think, not what others think.

Actually I try to listen more than talk and let my actions speak more than my words. But I can discuss anything from philosophy to fashion to sports. Who knew?

So why don't you "Try New Things" or you will have the same results. You will be pleasently surprised.

I love being around other people - parties, games, joking around, etc - but also need quiet time to re-center myself and rest. A romantic relationship needs to include chemistry and friendship.

I am an omnivore - meaning I enjoy eating meat, but I also like quite a few vegetables. Cooking is a hobby of mine - I love trying new recipes as well as making old favorites for others to try.

I like to read before bed, I have a love/hate relationship with my lawn, I enjoy a well written tv show or movie, love to go for walks and runs. I enjoy experiencing other cultures (including US subcultures) and learn something about myself while learning about the other culture. I enjoy the flea market because there are always new things to see. I get grumpy when I'm tired, but I'm almost never intentionally mean. I can power through most of my grocery shopping and get stuck deciding which cheese to buy. I like window shopping. I love music - most styles have something I enjoy.

My religious beliefs are somewhere between "spiritual but not religious" and agnostic.

I've been divorced for over four years and get along well with my ex and her husband. I try to reduce baggage and stress in my life wherever I can. My children spend alternate weekends with me and I see them regularly between those weekends.

I'm usually very laid back, but will protect family and friends with my life.

Honesty is important to me. I can usually tell when someone is lying to me. It's a convenient talent, but not often pleasant. As such, I much prefer tactful bad news to a white lie.

I much prefer to laugh than be serious, so I'm only serious when I need to be.

I want someone dependable, bright, generally outgoing. I want a balance between passion, love, and stability. I want someone to complement me - encourage me in ways to improve and I'll do the same. I exercise two-three times a week and would love someone to share this with.
